Documented Decemeber

Happy holidays!
I hope your all starting to document your December this year and if not, I hope I inspire you to do so today. I think this is my 4th year in a row of documenting December this year. I love spending just 30 mins - generally at the end of the day - and documenting the day or what happened. Its not necessarily Christmas related because end of school year for the kiddos and then often we pop away just before Christmas and I have no technology those days. Its so good to just switch off and recharge physically and mentally.
In my documented December, using the Hip Kit  November kits  I always do a mixture of layouts and project life style pages along with lots of memorabilia, anything from the kiddos drawings to wrapping.
Today I created a double page layout in my album using the Crate paper Snow and cocoa products in the kit.
In Australia is not a winter, its super hot and sunny, but it didnt stop me from using the snow flakes as a feature in the background with some stitching.
Then I used the series of frames to highlight a series of photos on my daughter 'goofing' around with her Santa hat.
The key to documented December is keep it simply and allow yourself that 'time out' daily to complete just a little in the album.

Happy documented December

Tis the season for Happy holidays

Hello lovely creativity people, I;m here with a layout for the sketch using the gorgeous November kit from Hip kits.  Yes, if you look closely I followed the sketch!! tee hee. I started off my flipping the sketch  side ways. Because there were so many beautiful elements in the papers, I couldn't help but fussy cut out a lot of the labels, presents, trees and houses.  The to keep the elements on the left of the photo (the rectangle frames of the sketch), I machine stitched underneath before embellishing. It added a lot more depth and texture.

Coffee with project life? Why not!

Also wanted to share with you a project life page using the October Project life kit. This kit just calls for lots of black and white photos and its a breath of fresh air in my album. It just breaks up the colour through the page.

There is also something dramatic about black and white photos isn't there.  I love documenting photos of my little girl on a daily basis because somethings cant be sent or felt in words uh!
That is the beauty of project life isnt it. The photos and sentiments do the talking.

I really love the big chipboard words in the embellishment kit, that I decided to use it on its own in teh 4 x 6 sleeve and then I embellished on the plastic with the puffy stickers. It adds some nice demision to the project life page.

With project life its not always about the photos, but the journaling too. Thats what I wanted to do was doucment those things that photos cant tell the story in.

Layering and clustering embellishments is another great way to tell your story. Not to mention mixing up the alphas too! How cute are those gold dipped wooden alphas.
Tip:Also dont forget to document the age of the photos.

I hope these projects inspire you today to be creativity and document those memories for years to come!

Pastel colours and dramatic black and white photos!

Hello lovely creativity HKC friends! Its Felicity here.  I'm so excited to sharing my page today. I have used the Hip Kit October kit and absolutely love all the pastel tones with a little blue.
Now, I hope your sitting down and no its not a blue moon, Tee hee, but... I have not used white cardstock as my background. I know right! This page is one of my favorites!

So besides that difference, I really wanted to also use the big chipboard words that came in the kit. Now lets be honest, I did start with this page laid out on white cardstock, but then as I was 'dreaming' of what to do with the background, shuffling papers, as you do... I came across the pink fresh studio paper and it just matched so perfectly.

Once I then 'transferred' everything over to that background paper, it looked, what I think is described as magical! It just all fitted and fell into place.  I loved adding in lots of embellishments from the ephemera pack, finished off with fussy cut flowers.

Lots of love and butterflies

Hello lovely scrappy friends!! I'm a layout using the main kit from October Hip kit club. Although I did sneak just teeny tiny bit of the colour kit and embellishment kit in, but only a smidgen.

I love the embellishments in the kit from pink fresh studio. I used a lot and true to my layering style! I love also fussy cutting out some of the flowers  as well. Nice and relaxing with a hot cuppa and your feet up!

Now if you look closer, you will see my photo is a tiny blurry from my son. But I wasn't worry, because I need to document this moment. So to combat that I turned the photo black and white, which suited the page perfectly and then layed in some embellishement to look like they had depth from the photo. Hope that made sense, hard to explain in words. (which my process video, link in the next post).

I also loved all the stars. I did um and argh about using them, you know over thinking, its night time, do stars go with butterflies... those thoughts aside and a gentle reminder, there is not right or wrong, just have fun with the kit. I loved the stars there, to add more detail. I wanted to add a heap more paper in the page, but regardless of what i did (off camera because I fiddle for a good few hours) that i kept going back to this design.

Im pretty happy with this, but its made easy with the kit being so wonderfully put together, that it makes creating so easy. Not to mention how jam packed full they are!!

Hope this inspires you with your kits :)

Till next time...

Repetitive photos in Project life

Over at Hip kits last week, we were looking at grateful projects. I love the idea that this week we are looking at grateful projects.  When it comes to project life, I like to think of it as documenting many photos and recording memories.

My daughter has a very loved Teddy since she was born. This Ted dries many tears, takes away a lot of pain, comforts her and showers her with endless love. These are the memories  I don't to miss and the photos I want to look back on in many many years time with her to show her much this Ted was loved.

I had a series of photos taken of her with Ted, which truly reflects her love for Ted. So I thought that all the photos was great in her project life album.
So when it comes to project life, don't be afraid to use repetition to tell the story. The idea of project life, for me, is to put all the memories and moments in one place. I loved also being able to change some of the photos to black and white to create more interest and a little drama.

The project life kit from October, was perfect with the beautiful tones of mustard, pinks, blue and reds. The unique project life cards again, make it so easy to create a beautiful spread and not to mention all the beautiful Pink fresh studio embellishments.

I challenge you this weekend, to record something that your truly grateful and thankful for.
Be sure to share them in the forum :)

Happy creativity week!!
